TRAVEL BASICS

Operating Hours, Seasons
The site is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday thru Sunday, September till June 18th and daily June 18th till late summer. Closed on December 25 and January 1.

 

Getting There
CAR - Located in Charles County, Maryland, Thomas Stone NHS is 25 miles south of Washington D.C. The site is located on Rose Hill Road between Maryland Routes 6 and 225 near Port Tobacco, Maryland.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - No public transportation is available.

 

Weather & Climate
Summers are generally hot and humid with occasional thunderstorms. Winters are generally cold with variable precipitation. Wearing layers of clothing is recommended during late fall, winter, and early spring.

 

Accessibility
The visitor center and mansion are accessible.

 

Getting Around
A short road is open into the park. There are two miles of mowed paths inside the park.

Location - Please, park in the designated lot and walk the board walk and mowed path to the visitor center. Visitors with disabilities are welcome to park by the visitor center.
Closures - Closed Mondays and Tuesdays September 5th till spring.
Exhibits - The exhibits chronicle the life and times of Thomas Stone, future plans for the site, archeological information, and plantation life through the years.
Available Facilities - A small book store with material focusing on colonial life, the Declaration of Independence, and the Revolutionary War is available. A bathroom and drinking fountain are also available.
